Stud Fees/Sales

We do not believe high stud fees are warranted in this economic climate so ALL our males have stud fees of $500+gst.  It does NOT denote them as inferior males.

ALCLAIR ZUKKI (medium grey) sire Coonawarra Greystoke arrived from Dunedin and is "standing at stud" throughout this season.

He is a stunning even grey with two spots, great presence and conformation.  He pumps out an extremely long staple length fleece which is crimpy, fine (latest stats are 24 micron at 4.5 years of age) and a delight to feel.

We've discovered he's a "no nonsense" male, persisting with the females, yet not 'knocking them about' as we've seen some males do. Stud Fee: $500+gst.  He is NOT for sale.

For all males, talk with us about discounts for multiple matings, whether you require mobile matings, or would like your female agisted free with us until she's confirmed pregnant.

We believe it's often in the best interests of the females (especially those with current cria-at-foot) to remain in their herd, so there is less chance of harm or non-bonding and the owners can monitor and enjoy the cria's progress.  Therefore, in almost all cases, we bring the boys to you for mating.

In some instances, a maiden may take several matings to get pregnant and we may suggest she comes to stay (maybe with another female from your herd) until she's confirmed pregnant.  Discuss options - we will always do what's best for the female and her cria.

There's a live birth guarantee with the matings because you're paying for a live cria in your paddocks in 11 to 12 months time, not just for these boys to have lots of fun !!!!!

ALL THE MALES (EXCEPT ZUKKI) ARE NOW OFFERED FOR SALE AS WE DISBAND THE HERD. PLEASE THINK WHAT THEY CAN DO TO IMPROVE YOUR HERD GENETICS AND QUALITY AND MAKE REALISTICS OFFERS.  ALL OFFERS WILL BE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED.

I feel incredibly sad writing this as we have "birthed", named, shown and grown most of these males.  I see them out of my kitchen windows every day, so parting with them will be difficult but a "needs must".  Their welfare and fitting into their new homes is very important to us. They will each bring their attributes and characters to new herds.

ZUKKI IS NOT FOR SALE - SORRY

We are privileged to have Zukki come to "stand at stud" for the foreseeable future because his owners have his half-brother working down south for them. [His name is pronounced Zukk-i similar to "Luke-ee" not Zook-i as in "Book-ee" as he's sometimes called].

Zukki has great heritage through his sire Greystoke, back to Parnabrae Brutus then back to the venerable Purrumbete Highlander.  His dam Misty still has a low 20 micron and soft handle fleece at 9 years of age. He also has the longest staple length fleece we've seen (ask for a sample). It's very dense and an even silvery grey with good character.  He has almost none of the spots on him often associated with greys, stands tall and proud (excellent conformation) and has great "presence".

We have used him widely over our greys and blacks and will bring him to your females if you're within easy driving distance. Discuss your requirements with us and we'll accommodate them if possible.

Zukki's first cria from last season's matings up here have arrived: the first two are silver greys and both females!!  We and the owners of the first cria are delighted.  We look forward to more grey cria from Zukki through this season. The 3rd is also a female and a dark mahogany brown. More dark brown cria have followed and now 4 boys to add to his list.

Titan has been a delight to own since arriving from Oz.  He has a celebrated sire and relishes his stud duties. He lives with 6 other males and is so easy when being handled - happy to hop in the front door of the float or be led directly to a female!!  He has a rising micron fleece, but many other characteristics such as excellent conformation, nice nature and "presence" which make him a desirable male to own.

                                                                                Stud Fee: $500+gst

                                                                                OFFERS

Dam: Gilead Lady G (whose sire is Kaihere Accoyo Spartacus), and she won 1st place in her large white class in the only Manawatu Show she was entered into. She is 50% Accoyo through her sire, which makes Kudos 25% Accoyo. He is so 'laid back' he's a dream to handle and being a compact male makes him even easier.

Kudos's first cria (as anticipated) have very dense, fine fleeces.  They are noted as being particularly vigorous as soon as they arrive.  Kudos (and the others) don't pose for photos very well - will try again when the mud has gone!!

Gilead Mountbatten (RG/Roan)

Sire: Paca Perfect Heath (RG/Roan)                  IAR: 1000985

Dam: Turi Moana Rosettia (RG/Roan)                SOLD

Ronan (as Mountbatten is known) is a particular favourite.  He's a "cheeky" boy, making sure the other males know that just because he's compact (taking after his dam & grand-dam) doesn't mean he'll be at the bottom of the 'pecking order' thanks!!  He was a great PR animal for us when he was younger, being laid-back and easy to take on visits.

Ronan has developed into a fine young male eager to work.  His very strong grey background gives us hope for lots of grey cria to arrive.  The previous year he had the finest fleece in the herd and certainly won a couple of first place ribbons and one 2nd when shown.

A photo of his sire, Heath taken at our place and one of Ronan now as a mature young male demonstrates that they look like "peas in a pod" except for some lighter patches on Ronan and his more compact stature. Both have "presence", ears which stand up and a proud stance. He will be sorely missed.

Chevalier was registered as a solid light fawn then darkened as he has aged to a medium fawn.  He is now old enough to be considered as a wonderful potential stud male.  However, as he is a 3/4 brother to Gilead Astrakhan he needs to work elsewhere.

Chevalier has Kaihere Peruvian Ven-Chura as a grandsire on his dam's side, so there is lots of colour behind him.

Romy (as he's known) is all class.  His grandsire on his Dam's side is Cambridge Storm Trooper and his great-grandsire is Kaihere Peruvian Ven Chura.  The Faberge line of course needs no introduction.

Romy appears white and we wonder if he's not now a solid white rather than a light fawn.  His fleece, once shorn, is gleaming white and as an animal in the paddock he certainly looks white. He has excellent conformation and lives with other males.  He has the most easygoing nature, so has become an excellent PR animal for us, being taken to Rest Homes, Schools etc and standing in a pen outside our shop.

He won his class at Hawkes Bay as a Junior - a large white class and we can see his gradual development into a medium sized, slim young male who may become taller, but I doubt much "fatter" - his dam is a slim female.

Someone may well enjoy the benefits of such a good quality male, if they're quick.  Sorry, still not good at getting reasonable photos.
